Passover 2024 will begin at sundown on April 22 and continue through April 30. For those observant, this means a week of strict dietary guidelines and a completely different kind of keeping kosher than the rest of the year.
But all the rules to keep in mind, from only eating foods and beverages marked as certified kosher for Passover, to avoiding leavened bread and grains such as wheat, spelt, barley, oats and rye, there’s actually a lot of fun sweets and treats – and libations – to enjoy while celebrating this holiday.
That includes some old favorites as well as new-to-market items for this season that seem especially exciting.
Sugar Plum 1-Pound Tin of Kosher Truffles for Passover
These Kosher for Passover Pareve Dairy-Free Truffles ($50) are made with rich, velvety dark chocolate coating and a creamy chocolate ganache center. They are a perfect dessert after the seder or for enjoying any time during the festivities – especially if you enjoy your chocolate extra rich and indulgent.
Joyva Original Jell Rings
These dark chocolate-covered jelly-filled rings ($20) are a mainstay of Passover for many families and have been for generations. Best enjoyed when stashed in the freezer and extra cold, these raspberry-filled treats are bite-sized and perfect any time the craving for something sweet hits during the week of Passover.
Manischewitz Kosher for Passover Frozen Knishes
Manischewitz just did a major rebrand after around 130 years in the Kosher products space, and they are reflecting that with fun new packaging and a bunch of new items just for Passover 2024. One such item is the brand new frozen option, their gluten-free and Kosher for Passover Frozen Knishes ($10). Perfect for stashing in the freezer and heating up in the air fryer or oven on demand, this can be a great side for the seder but also a good idea for a meal on the go as grabbing lunch while at work or school has an added layer of difficulty during the holiday.
Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico
Enjoying four cups of wine (or more!) is a big part of the seder experience, and gone are the days of Passover wine being over-sweet and low quality. There’s tons of great options available now, including for the first year, Rocca delle Macie Chianti Classico ($21), an amazing Italian Chianti from a world-known vineyard making kosher wine for the first time. It’ll be a hit with that brisket, or enjoyed for dessert over some chocolate truffles or flourless chocolate cake.
Dead Drop Kosher for Passover Vodka
All that time with family means a stiff martini may be in order – but Kosher for Passover spirits haven’t always been easy to come by. Via Thornton Distilling Company, Dead Drop Spirits is always kosher certified, but they annually shut down their operations and kasher the distillery to create OU-P certified Kosher for Passover gin, vodka, silver rum and barrel-aged dark rum. The 40% ABV vodka ($25), made with cane spirit and limestone-filtered spring water, comes from a historic artesian that goes back to 1857!
Yarden Brut Rose
A little bit of bubbles is always a good idea, and this Kosher for Passover Yarden Brut Rose ($47) is made with a blend of 73% Chardonnay and 27% Pinot Noir grapes. This could be a good choice as welcome bubbles when gathering friends and family for the seder, or enjoyed any time at all — it’s a holiday, we don’t need more reason than that!
