The Easter Egg Extravaganza at the Texas Zoo brought together numerous locals for a day brimming with Easter-themed festivities and a diverse array of animals from around the globe.
Commencing with the bunny petting zoo situated near the zoo’s entrance, attendees had the chance to engage with the Flemish Giant rabbits, offering a genuine Easter weekend encounter with these adorable creatures. Jacob Moore, accompanying his two stepsons to the event, expressed delight in witnessing his children interact with the rabbits.
Moore remarked, “Today, there was a plethora of amiable individuals, and the lineup of activities tailored for children and families by the zoo was truly remarkable. I find such events delightful and look forward to returning next time.”
An integral part of Easter celebrations, the Easter egg hunts, were meticulously organized by The Texas Zoo staff to cater to children of varying age groups. The hunts were categorized based on age, with the first hunt designated for children aged zero to two, followed by separate hunts for three to five-year-olds, six to nine-year-olds, and finally, ten to 13-year-olds.
Erin Spence, accompanied by her husband and daughter Lily, partook in the egg hunts and savored the array of planned activities throughout the day.
Expressing her enjoyment, Spence shared, “My daughter has a fondness for Easter egg hunts, and I personally found the activities quite charming, especially for the little ones. It had been a while since our last visit to the zoo, so it was a refreshing experience for us, allowing her to explore new things and reminisce about the animals she had not seen before.”
April Guin’s visit to the zoo was prompted by her son’s enthusiastic descriptions, leading her to witness the attractions firsthand.
Recounting her experience, Guin stated, “It was my inaugural visit to the zoo, and my son’s eagerness to show me around prompted our visit. We are looking forward to participating in the Easter egg hunt as well. His highlight of the day so far has been observing the wolves.”
Beyond the bunny petting zoo and egg hunts, the zoo featured an array of engaging activities suitable for children of all ages, including games like pin the tail on the bunny, egg bowling, and coloring stations.
Another cherished Victoria tradition is Florecita’s Floral and More annual Easter egg hunt and vendor event, now in its third year at 3106 Lone Tree Road.
Anticipation filled the air as hundreds of children up to the age of 13 eagerly awaited the commencement of the egg hunt behind Florecita’s at 3 p.m. on Saturday.
Adam Estrada, alongside his wife, orchestrates the event annually, ensuring ample preparation with over 4,000 hidden eggs and more than 125 golden egg prizes awaiting discovery.
Estrada shared, “This community event holds special significance for us, particularly for the Lone Tree area. Various companies contribute items such as food and prize baskets, with the proceeds aiding in event organization.”
The event transcended a mere egg hunt, with vendors offering complimentary hotdogs, popcorn, and lemonade for the community’s enjoyment while children partook in the search for eggs.
Estrada expressed gratitude for the growing support, stating, “We have received numerous accolades, and it’s heartening to witness the event’s expanding reach each year. The community’s involvement and sponsorship are deeply appreciated, and we welcome all interested parties to join us in contributing to this event.”
