Their banter echoes through the tennis media like a well-struck forehand. Once again, they have been caught goofing around.

Grigor Dimitrov and Novak Djokovic’s interesting exchange!
Dimitrov was recently featured in a video by the ATP Tour which saw various players asking funny questions, to which the Bulgarian replied. One questioner was his old friend Djokovic. The video is uploaded on ATP Tour’s official Instagram handle and displays the two tennis pros’ enduring friendship. The witty verbal rally that ensues is a treat for the fans!
Taking a jibe at Dimitrov for sporting Van Cleef bracelets, Djokovic asks him how many of them he has, to which the Bulgarian replies, “Novak, more than you can put on your wrist, man. I am a big fan of the Van Cleefs. I am not sure you can handle that much bling. We can give it a try, but let’s say I am pretty stacked up. Maybe next time you’re around, let’s see what you can pull off.”
Djokovic then narrates an incident where the Serb had to forbid his son Stefan from wearing Van Cleef bracelets as he was just nine years old. To this, his son replied, “But why is Dimitrov then wearing? So they’re for men as well.” He adds, “So just to let you know, you’ve been the talk of our house. Thank you or no thank you!”
The tennis media is overflowing with Djokovic and Dimitrov’s banter documented over the last ten years. Last year, at the Paris Masters final, they showcased their camaraderie in a manner that was starkly different from another viral incident that took place at the BNP Paribas Open exactly ten years before.
Grigor Dimitrov and Novak Djokovic’s emotional friendship arc
Last year in November, Djokovic outclassed Dimitrov in straight sets and clinched the Paris Masters title. During Djokovic’s on-court interview, a seemingly overwhelmed Dimitrov couldn’t hold back his emotions and burst into tears. Seeing his neighbor cry, the Serb left the interview mid-way and ran over to Dimitrov to console him.
The heartwarming video went viral, with many lauding Djokovic. Now, cut to 10 years back, at the BNP Paribas Open, where another viral incident appeared. This incident, though, is filled with amusement!
As Dimitrov delved into his thoughts on the tournament and the sport, Djokovic crashed the Bulgarian’s interview and sat right next to him. With a quip, he hailed Dimitrov as the “best-looking guy on the tour,” playfully disrupting the tennis talk and drawing a chuckle from his colleague. Djokovic and Dimitrov engaged in a lively exchange of playful banter, with Djokovic asking a series of hilarious questions that Dimitrov sportingly responded to.
These incidents are a testament to the self-christened “Balkan Brothers” enduring close bond. It is also symbolic of the arc their relationship has taken over a decade! Friendships like these in tennis remind one of the true value of sport!
