The Royal Family has unveiled King Frederik’s amusing navy moniker as they offer a sneak peek into an upcoming exhibition dedicated to the reigning monarch.
Ascending the Danish throne at the age of 55 alongside Queen Mary in January, King Frederik took over from his mother, Queen Margrethe, who abdicated after a 52-year rule.
In honor of the new King, an exhibition titled ‘Frederik – King of Tomorrow’ is set to debut at the Amalienborg Museum located within Christian VIII’s Palace in Copenhagen next week.
Featuring a collection of significant objects, paintings, photographs, and videos from King Frederik’s life, the exhibition aims to provide insights into his journey.
Recently, the Danish Royal Family’s Instagram account offered a glimpse of some of the items to be showcased at the exhibition.
Among these items is a vibrant red hard hat worn by Frederik during his service in the Danish navy.
Affectionately labeled ‘Pingo,’ this nickname was bestowed upon him by his comrades due to his penguin-like waddle when his wetsuit became waterlogged.
Accompanying the hard hat is a photograph of King Frederik donning the distinctive headgear, captured while emerging from a tunnel with the hat slightly askew.
Having commenced his service with Denmark’s elite special operations forces, the Royal Frogmen Corps, in 1995, the Crown Prince also underwent training in the army and air force during his formative years.
Additional artifacts on display include one of the King’s Copenhagen marathon t-shirts, a checked school satchel, and a coin featuring his likeness.
The exhibition is scheduled to run from March to September before being transferred to the historic Danish castle of Koldinghus in Kolding.
In a separate event, the King and Queen recently demonstrated unity as they welcomed representatives from the Armed Forces, Air Force, and Emergency Management Board.
Meanwhile, Mexican socialite Genoveva Casanova broke her silence after being embroiled in controversy following allegations of an affair with Frederick X.
Taking to Instagram, the 47-year-old expressed gratitude to those who supported her during a challenging period, emphasizing the importance of their understanding and encouragement.
Despite refuting speculations of a romantic involvement with the current King of Denmark, Genoveva acknowledged the tumultuous past months and her need for solitude.
In a heartfelt message accompanied by a selfie featuring her canine companion, she conveyed her appreciation for the outpouring of love and reassurance she received.
Looking ahead, the royal couple announced forthcoming official visits following their accession to the throne.
Their itinerary includes trips to Sweden, Norway, Greenland, and the Faroe Islands throughout the summer months.
Scheduled to travel aboard the Royal Yacht Dannebrog, King Frederik and Queen Mary will engage in diplomatic engagements, strengthening ties with neighboring Nordic countries.
As part of their initial state visits, the royal duo will meet with the respective sovereigns of Sweden and Norway, underscoring the enduring bonds among the Nordic monarchies.
The Royal Yacht Dannebrog, a longstanding symbol of Danish maritime heritage, has been a staple in the Royal Family’s travels since its inauguration in May 1932, covering extensive distances exceeding 800,000 nautical miles.
